In line with our CREDO Johnson & Johnson Medical , a division of Johnson & Johnson Limited is committed to continuing medical education for health care professionals.” ETHICON INSTITUTE OF SURGICAL EDUCATION (EISE)” at Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai is an initiative in that direction.

Over the years, EISEs have become a partner to the medical community by offering a variety of courses to impart ‘hands-on’ training to budding and practicing surgeons and paramedical staff in the latest technologies and procedures. The honorary faculty members attached to EISEs are thought leaders from various specialties across the country. EISEs are well equipped with ergonomically designed state-of-the-art simulation labs (including virtual reality), operating rooms, and conference halls with inter-active tele-surgery facility.

Most of the Courses conducted at EISEs are endorsed by prestigious surgical bodies such as Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), “Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES)”, “Indian Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ISRM)”, “The Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Societies of India (F.O.G.S.I.)”, “Obesity Surgery Society of India (OSSI)” “Hernia Society of India” and “Bombay Endoscopy Academy & Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery (BEAMS) - Medical Practitioners registered with Delhi Medical Council can earn CME credits for Basic Surgical Techniques Course and Laparoscopic Gynaecology Courses conduced at EISE, Delhi. We are proud to be associated with hosting the Basic Surgical Skills Courses (BSSC), conducted by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, U.K. EISEs have trained over 60,000 medical professionals since inception. All courses conducted at EISEs are ‘NOT FOR PROFIT’ and are subsidized by Johnson & Johnson Medical.

New initiatives started by EISE are -

World class simulator “LAP MENTOR” for training at all EISEs.- The LAP MentorTM is a multidisciplinary simulator that provides hands-on practice of complete laparoscopic procedures as well as basic laparoscopic skills, for single trainee or an entire team.The system is aimed at enhancing operational and medical decision-making, improving skills and expanding medical knowledge. It combines the technique for realistic visualization of the human anatomy & anatomy behavior along with a high-end technological Haptic system that provides realistic sensations, which mimic the look & feel of an actual surgical procedure.

Medical Writing Course -The well-structured agenda provides the participants with knowledge and information on Basic Statistics for Medical writing and search of literature. The course gives understanding to how to list different types of studies: systematic review, meta-analysis, randomized controlled, case control, cohort, and critical analysis of literature. It gives participants an understanding to how to use evidence-based medicine.

FOGSI- ISRO Satellite School - Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education, EISE entered into educational partnership with The Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) to link up 100 medical colleges in India using EDUSAT technology of ISRO
for medical education primarily to the Gynecologist in Medical colleges across India.
At present ISRO provides a slot of 8 Hrs a month to FOGSI/EISE and the same is used for lectures, recorded surgeries, interactive session with the top faculties. Presently the program is running in 10 colleges on the 4th Sunday of every month.This will go a long way for JJMI in Professional Education endeavour. Way forward EISEs will continue and build relationship with FOGSI and more strategically with ISRO and roll educational partnership for all franchises in JJMI.
